About us
Kizos planches à pagaie was created by Mélodie Bédard, an Abenaki native entrepreneur. This company, which sells inflatable paddle boards, was born of a passion for water and a love of nature. The designs and colors chosen for the boards are designed to harmonize with nature, and to highlight aspects of aboriginal culture, particularly that of the W8banaki nation. All paddle boards have a name in Abenaki representing the design of each one.

Kizos means “sun” in Abenaki. The Abenakis are a First Nations people. The name “Abenaki” comes from the words “W8ban” (light, glow, dawn) and “Aki” (earth), symbolizing the “People of the Rising Sun”. The choice of the word “kizos” in my company name was chosen to reflect my native origins.
